Let Key Stage 2 Take You on a Journey...
During the first two weeks of term, Key Stage 2 kicked off the year by sharing a fantastic wordless picture book, "Journey" by Aaron Becker.
The story tells of a young girl who, bored by her parents and without any way to entertain herself, discovers a magical crayon which she uses to draw items - or doors - that spring to life. Key Stage 2 each took an element of the book and created amazing pieces of writing, from gripping narratives to informative explanations, and even got to grips with their artistic sides by creating artwork inspired by the text.
Our two weeks of work culminated in a fantastic Friday morning, where children entered school to be WOWed by how the teachers had transformed display boards, created amazing hanging collections in corridors and decorated the walkway. Children also had the opportunity to visit other year groups within the Key Stage to show off their writing. Everyone was very proud.
