Eco Committee

As a Green Flag Award school, the Eco Committee has a very important role in school to help us be as Eco friendly for our environment as we can as part of our Charter; Protect today to preserve tomorrow. The Eco Committee is made up of representatives from Y2- Y6 and they do lots of  important jobs around school such as collecting the recycling, awarding points to the most Eco friendly classes and helping to maintain and  develop our wonderful  school grounds.

Tree Planting

Last Spring, a number of our pupils were involved in planting some saplings around our school grounds. Those trees are now growing and thriving and include elder, hawthorn and weeping silver birch. We also have our very own newly planted willow copse which will provide a sustainable source of willow for Forest School.

Saving electricity

One of our roles is to help save electricity and to reduce the cost of this energy for the school.  We are pleased that our bills are starting to come down and this has been helped by the new roofing  and continued efforts to turn off lights and  to replace old lights with Led lights where possible. We are currently looking into the possibility of solar panels too.

Carbon Footprint

As part of our vision to be more environmentally sustainable as a school, we will be finding out more about carbon footprints and what we can do to reduce ours. We hope to make some links with Walton High School so we can learn from some of their recent work to reduce their carbon footprint.

Watch this space for future updates!
