CGP Homework Resources

Today, your child may have come home with up to 8 CGP revision guides. These have been paid for by school as a tool to support homework and, later in the year, supported or independent revision as part of homework or Revision Club engagement. As there are so many resources and a lot of information regarding which book is needed for different homeworks, we thought we'd provide a guide on here for parents while this is still new.

Generally any white-covered booklet is for children to complete work inside and this is where they will complete their homework. These are the SATs Question Books and the SAT Buster books.
The coloured covers SATs Revision Books contain supportive, information pages. These may be consulted by children or parents for tips, modelled examples or broken-down instructions to support children alongside their workbooks.
For most homework tasks, it is useful for children to have both their workbook and revision guides to hand when completing homework. Please note, the page numbers don't necessarily correspond so please use the contents pages to identify the correct pages for support in the coloured-cover books.

Purple-branded books will mainly be used for GPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling) homeworks.

White = children will complete the work inside these. When given page references for homework, those relate to this book. The purple-covered Revision book will be useful for parents!

Red-branded books are Maths only.

Again, white is for children to complete their homework inside: page references for homework will be for inside this book. Red-covered revision book contains the modelled examples, explanations and helpful hints.

Orange-branded books are for Reading. There are 3: one for fiction, non-fiction and poetry. These are likely to be used less for homework but will be set at times. There is a separate answer booklet that has answers for all 3 books inside.

Hints & Tips for using the CGP resources

Complete all work if possible in pencil. This will allow children to rub out and revisit concepts several times throughout the year.
Complete homework and encourage children to use the answers at the back of the white work books to get immediate feedback. Staff will do spot-checks of homework each week and be available for children who want to check with adults why they may have gotten answers incorrect.
Bring workbooks into school on Monday each week so these spot checks can take place in line with the homework timetables. Usually, we will set one homework in CGP and one homework online (maths.co.uk/spag.com) each week.

Every Wednesday morning, homework will be posted on the Morning Board for children to copy into their diaries. Children who attend SPARK will have time to do this or a teaching assistant will record for them if necessary.

Welcome to Year 6 – an exciting and memorable final chapter of primary school! This year is all about growing in confidence, independence and maturity, as children prepare for their transition to secondary school.

Our Year 6 curriculum is rich, engaging and designed to spark curiosity. In the autumn term, we dive into the powerful history of World War I and II, exploring how these global events shaped the world we live in today. Across the year, children will take on more responsibility for their learning, make important contributions to school life and rise to new academic and personal challenges.

Some of the highlights of Year 6 include our unforgettable residential trip to Condover Hall, where teamwork and resilience take centre stage, and a moving visit to the National Memorial Arboretum, deepening our understanding of remembrance. Later in the year, pupils unleash their creativity in our Business Enterprise Project, showcasing their innovation and teamwork, before ending the year on a high with a show-stopping end-of-year production.

Year 6 is a special time, filled with learning, laughter and lasting memories. We can’t wait to see all that this brilliant group of children will achieve as the Class of 2027!

Important Information
Here, we will post important dates and information.

This half-term, children will require their PE kits on Monday and Wednesday where PE will take place in the afternoon. Please ensure children are equipped with kit for both indoor and outdoor lessons. Where children have ear piercings, they must remove these for PE and be capable of taking out their own jewellery. Please see our uniform policy for further information.
